Once upon a time pens came from geese, letters came in long rolls, and it took fourteen words and three flourishes to say, “Yours truly.”
I am Karissa O’Keefe-Young, also known as Pretty Written Things. I live in small town in South Carolina with my husband, cocker spaniel, and two cats, working out of my studio in our little 1915 mill house. I specialize in envelope addressing as well as other day of paper goods for weddings and special events. My favorite types of items to work on are the small, intimate ones that can be held.
My calligraphy styles are based on my study of Copperplate, Engrosser’s Script, Spencerian Script, Italian Hand, Uncial, and modern styles. I am a member of The International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting, and have taken classes with Master Penman Harvest Crittenden and Master Penman Rosemary Buczek, as well as Michael Ward, Suzanne Cunningham, Heather Held, David Grimes, Nina Tran, and others.
